History

Glenashley Primary School opened its doors on 1 January 1966 with ten classrooms, an office block, a domestic science room and a woodwork room. The enrolment was 94 pupils in three classes, one grade three and two grade four classes. The first principal, Mr V Elson took up his position after teaching at Hilton College and then Scottsville Primary as Vice Principal. Edgewood Teachers Training College was housed in the school and occupied six classrooms on the top corridor while the school occupied the bottom floor of the classroom block. This arrangement continued amicably until January 1967 when Edgewood College moved to the new Danville Park Girls High School.
